Thursday, August 7th 2008
- Tiki Madness

- The Hut - Tiki Bar and Resturant
- Rev up the weekend with a little casual pre-convergence TIKI madness. The Hut is just a little walk from the Offical Hotel and there is no cover charge, just good drink, fun food and pool tables. This is a casual event, and not a club night. It's going to be a place to catch up, maybe grab a bite to eat, and have some slushy goodness. We'll be meeting up there around 8pm and we hope to see you there!

- Dive in to the Convergence weekend and meet this year's round of party-goers. Pick up your laminate, grab a drink from the cash bar, and enjoy the lovely brick courtyard and fountains. A limited number of laminates will be available for purchase here.

- Cuban Club
- Watch as Convergence's finest designers and models do their little turn on the catwalk. Plan your shopping for tomorrow's Fish Market.

- Friday night is retro night at C14 as your favorite DJs and bands spin you back to the decadent 80s. Parachute pants optional.

- Gothic Bathing Beauties and the Fop Fight

Which gothic boi truly has the most fop? Find out with difficult competitions such as face powdering, cravat tying, and gothic babe wooing. Only 1 fop can reign supreme!
Gothic Bathing Beauties (4pm) With your Emcee Voltaire. A swimsuit competition of an entirely different nature. Winners will be selected to perform as TheOneFonz's harem for the CJtS event. Special celebrity judges. - Convergence Jumps the Shark With your Emcee Voltaire

- One man. One bike. One very, very angry remote controlled shark! The moment you've been waiting for - TheOneFonz will dare the shark-infested kiddie pool of doom on a BMX bike with only a leather jacket (and his innate cool) to protect him!!! TheOneFonz will be available for photos and autograph signing post-jump.

- A right proper burial of Convergence at our favorite local pub - The Tampa Bay Brewing Company. Tickets will include appetizer, entrées, and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages. Crafted beers available (and encouraged) for an additional cost. This event is limited to 150 people!
- Goths on Ice!
- Sunday afternoon, time pending
- Cost: admission is free, skate rental is $3.50 + tax
- Wanna beat the heat? Get your Brian Boitano on with hostess Eilis and other people in black at a private ice session at Tampa's Ice Sports Forum. We'll be skating to music you won't hear at the Olympics (Goths on Ice! is a Carmen-free zone). Can't skate? No worries! Eilis will give a short basic skating lesson at the beginning of the session (how to fall, skate forward, and stop), and even if you opt not to lace up and hit the ice, you can always enjoy the cool rink or dance (dancing is always good).

- Join Keith, CorpGoth's Trouble Consultant, on this walking tour of historic Ybor City, with stops at popular bars and cigar factories. We will be visiting 3 bars and 2 cigar shops along the way, and watch as cigars are hand-rolled. The visits to the bars will be first to allow non-smokers to share in the fun. Unfortunately, drinks and cigars are not included in the nominal $10 ticket fee. The meet-up point will be Tampa Bay Brewing Company (bar #1). Dress appropriately for walking in August. Space is limited to 35 people!

- Whether your mind is reeling from your own dreams or from what you imbibed with us at the Wake brunch, you are now prepared for the twisted mind of Salvador Dali. Just across the bay, in St. Petersburg, the Salvador Dali museum houses the "world's most comprehensive collection" by this infamous surrealist. We will be taken on a tour which includes the featured exhibit "Women: Dali's View" taking in 70 pieces from the permanent collection at the museum. We'll hear about the deliciously decadent divergences of Dali's days and you can immerse yourself in parallel dimensions for the afternoon.
